We have a lot of key milestones in the early parts of 2020 – none more so than the demolition of the sports hall. We’ll be stripping asbestos straight after Christmas with the demolition – which will take around three weeks to complete – due to take place later in January.
The main build will continue to progress at a rapid rate now the building is mostly watertight, allowing interior trades to commence works.
In early spring the piling works will commence on the site of the former sports hall and we will be writing to residents again in the weeks leading up to this to give notice of these works.
The winter nights and cold temperatures might be here, but that hasn’t stopped the hard work on site and I’m pleased to say that works are progressing really well.
In the last update we spoke about the main build which will house the 29 apartments really starting to take shape with the first floor internal walls going in and works starting on the second floor. Since then the building has since been fully roofed and watertight from the gable end through to the lift shaft.

The new entrance to Marjorie Waite Court on Crombie Avenue is now open and the old entrance is now locked and secure so that we can continue demolition and building works on this part of the site. The new extension will include a multi-use hall to replace the former community centre. All facilities within the vastly extended and much-improved facility will be dementia friendly, enabling the provision of residential and specialist dementia care.
